Workshop 1: Artificial Intelligence in Speech-Language Pathology

Step into the future of communication with this groundbreaking workshop exploring the intersection of speech-language pathology and artificial intelligence. Whether you're a seasoned clinician, a curious researcher, or a tech-savvy student, this session will reveal how AI is revolutionizing assessment, treatment, and accessibility in speech-language pathology. Workshop participants will discover machine learning, explore ethical implications, and the incredible potential of AI in our practice. 

Presenter: Mai Ling Chan, a multifaceted speech-language pathologist, global connector, invited presenter, technology entrepreneur, and industry historian.  Driven by a passion for empowerment, she guides individuals, educators, and innovators in the accessibility space, helping them transform their visions into impactful realities.

Workshop 2: Rhythm and Resonance: Music and Other Innovations in Speech Therapy 

This one-of-a-kind workshop blends music and cutting-edge tools to transform traditional speech therapy. Workshop participants will learn how musicality and new technologies can elevate engagement and effectiveness in providing speech therapy to our students, clients or patients. 

Presenter: Garrett "Scooter" Oyama, a practicing speech-language pathologist, musician, research coordinator, and UCLA PhD student in Communication/Cognition. With a multidisciplinary background in music, language, and cognitive science, he integrates insights across fields to advance the treatment of communication disorders.

1. Turkey & Cheddar Sandwich: Oven-roasted turkey breast, aged white cheddar, crisp mixed greens, vine-ripened tomatoes, red onions, garlic aioli, salt, and pepper on our Country Rustic Sourdough. Served with a piece of French Baguette, a cookie, and a pickle spear. Side: Chips

2. Tuna Salad Sandwich: Tuna salad, crisp mixed greens, vine-ripened tomatoes, salt and pepper on our Country Rustic Sourdough

3. Asian Sesame Chicken Salad: Crisp romaine topped with grilled chicken, crunchy wonton strips, sesame seeds, sliced almonds, and fresh cilantro with sesame vinaigrette

4. Greek Salad: Crisp romaine and lettuce blend tossed in Greek dressing, topped with grape tomatoes, feta, sliced cucumbers, red onions, kalamata olives, sliced pepperoncini peppers, and sprinkled with salt and pepper and served with a piece of French Baguette and a cookie

5. Green Goddess Chicken Cobb: Mixed greens, crisp romaine, and lettuce blend tossed in Green Goddess dressing, topped with grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, pickled red onions, fresh avocado, applewood smoked bacon, and a hard-boiled egg. Served with a piece of French Baguette and a cookie
